Final Fantasy XIV Races

Monday, September 13th, 2010

In Final Fantasy XIV five different races make up the world of Eorzea. The Final Fantasy XIV Races include the elegant Elezen, the tiny Lalafell, the industrious Hyur, the massive Roegadyn, and the lithe Miqo’te. The Final Fantasy XIV Races range in adept powers from magic, to physical combat, and jacks of all trades. A quick breakdown of the Final Fantasy XIV Races can be found below.

The Elezen very closely resemble very tall elves and are graceful and slender. Elezen are traditionally nomadic, and have a deep sense of pride and honor as they are one of the oldest races on Eorzea. There are two different groups of Elezen on Eorzea, the forest dwelling Wildwood Elezen and the cave dwelling Duskwight Elezen. Both are furious combatants, with the Wildwood specializing in ranged weaponry and bows and arrows, and the Duskwight specializing in the deadly arts of the shadows and thievery.

The Lalafell are a very tiny race and very closely resemble small children. The Lalafell are very experienced in the art of commerce, and hold many strong ties with the other races of the world. Although they are small, do not let the size of the Lalafell fool you, they are quick and agile, and possess a very high intelligence which serves them well in any situation, be it commerce or combat.

The Hyur are a race of humans in Final Fantasy XIV. The Hyur are a technologically advanced civilization that uses this technology in every aspect of their lives. The Hyur are a very well rounded race, capable of great intelligence and extraordinary combat prowess. The Hyur are also the most populace race on Eorzea, and often use their sheer numbers to their advantage.

The Roegadyn are a sea faring people with massive, muscular builds. Though quite intimidating due to their sheer size at first, not all Roegadyn are the thuggish brutes they resemble. Many Roegadyn are softhearted and introspective. Due to their size many Roegadyn make excellent warriors, brutes, and soldiers, but there has been word of a secretive group of Roegadyn who have become fluent in the powerful arts of magic and the arcane.

The Miqo’te are a tribal race that resemble cats in many ways. Due to their predatory nature, the Miqo’te are swift and agile and can be quite powerful even with their smaller frames. There are two distinct groups of Miqo’te, those who tend to be more nocturnal and those who prefer the light of the sun. No matter which side of the coin the Miqo’te prefer one thing is always certain, they are very powerful in the heat of combat.

Final Fantasy XIV Classes

Friday, September 10th, 2010

Final Fantasy XIV online is the fourteenth installment of the popular Final Fantasy series and is tentatively set for release sometime this year. The game will be available for the Playstation 3 and Microsoft Windows. As the title implies, this online edition will be a MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game). Set in Eorzea, this installment will cover the periods of peace between nations. The open ended premise revolves around soldiers who become adventurers in age without war.

The Final Fantasy XIV Classes are slowly being introduced to the public through company press releases. What is known so far will be slightly familiar to the hardcore fans but there are many new aspects as well. The classes are broken down into four separate Disciplines or FFXIV job systems. The Disciples of War (Warrior), Magic (Magus), Land (Gatherer) and Hand (Crafter). The Disciples of War include FFXIV Gladiator, FFXIV Marauder, FFXIV Pugilist, FFXIV Archer and FFXIV Lancer. The Disciples of Magic include FFXIV Thaumaturge and FFXIV Conjurer. The Disciples of the Land include FFXIV Fisher, FFXIV Botanist and FFXIV Miner. The Disciples of the Hand include FFXIV Carpenter, FFXIV Blacksmith, FFXIV Armorer, FFXIV Goldsmith, FFXIV Tanner, FFXIV Weaver, FFXIV Alchemist and FFXIV Culinarian. Each class is defined by the right equipment. For example, a Culinarian is a chef so cooking equipment will define this class.

With the large number of classes that comes out with this latest Final Fantasy series, fans look forward to Final Fantasy XIV guides and class guides as aids to kick start on the game.

There will most likely be other Final Fantasy XIV Classes as well. Final Fantasy is known for rewarding the hardcore fans with hidden classes like the Onion Knight. The Onion Knight is incredibly weak initially but the players who stick with this obscure class are rewarded with one of the most powerful characters in the game.

Final Fantasy XIV has been in development since 2006. The release is being seen as the next huge leap for the series. An online presence will drive the game play mechanics and more importantly, the plot, to new heights. The Final Fantasy developers are keeping the look and feel of this online world familiar to the fans of the incredibly successful Final Fantasy XI. The Final Fantasy XIV Classes and Races reflect this. Just how the Disciplines or job systems will be leveled up, remains to be seen.
